Terry Dennett’s Archive

Terry Dennett was the long-time collaborator of Jo Spence. They worked together on many of Spence’s most iconic projects and also established collective projects such as Photography Workshop and were involved in the setting up of Cameraworks Journal . Following her death in 1992 Terry was entrusted with her work and set up the Jo Spence Memorial Archive in his flat in Islington where they had once lived together, ensuring her memory was not forgotten. Terry was also a writer, historian and activist working on his own projects such as ‘Sleeping Rough’, which documented the homeless. Towards the end of his life Terry entrusted much of Spence’s archive to institutions that he felt would maintain Spence’s legacy and following his death the remaining material, which I think of as ‘Terry’s Stuff’, was deposited at the Mayday Rooms.
